Diy - Dye with Poly Fiber 'Yellow'

Up-cycle home linens and Threads/Lingerie with a jolt of Golden Yellow colour
-☽✧-Δ-✧☾-

It’s a perfect time of the year to get rid of threads that you don’t love and unflattering or pukey colours. Even sheets and bath/tea towels can be recolored to give the home a boost of colour. Instead of giving away what isn’t going to be used anymore, recoloring is an option to extended use and save bucks. 1 pack dyes around 1kg of fabric and more or less of the powder can be used depending on desired shade – keep in mind the longer the fabrics process the deeper the shade also. Personally I used 1 pack for two sometimes 3 batches. Instead of tipping out the used dye batch water – I added a 2nd lot whilst still boiling with extra salt and repeated the process. When used I then gave the items a wash together. With 1 packet I colored 5 yoga straps, 2 pairs shoelaces, 3 queen poly blend sheets and 6 pillowcases, poly mini, 6 tops OR 10 Bras, 5 briefs, pair of knee highs, 4 Bramis, Garter belt. It’s important to note non color safe patterns may darken the dye batch or color other fabrics in the batch and knot all stitching will take on color or do so differently to the fabric. ✧☾ What I Used ☽✧
Outdoor plastic industrial strength gloves
Giant BBQ tongs (Not for food use)
Giant spoon (Not for food use)
Giant stainless steel Stockpot (Not for food use)
Idye poly ‘Yellow’ with the color intensifier packet (included)
Water
Add 1cup of iodised salt for cotton/linens/rayons OR
1/3cup white vinegar for silk
Giant tub or bucket will suffice for cooling
... Fill stainless steel pot (I used a giant stockpot) with enough water for garments to move around freely over high heat. Add packet of poly idye soluble powder and the colour intensifier packet that comes with. Stir until dissolved. Pre-wet items to dye, wring out and roll into a bowling ball. Maintain stovetop temperature and stir frequently for 30 minutes to 1 hour. The stirring/agitation creates more uniform colour. Remove done items with gloves/a giant barbecue tong straight into a large tub/bucket (be careful HOT!) allow to cool before washing in the automatic laundry o n a quick cycle with half the amount of the usual detergent used. Wash with like colors and some color will transfer which is fine by me but may not be for you, have fun! I like to do this whilst I work in the studio next to the kitchen (So I can stir occasionally whilst being productive)
