diy - Dye with Natural Fiber 'Golden yellow'

Up-cycle home linens and natural fibered Threads
with Golden Yellow color
-☽✧-Δ-✧☾-

This powdered dye for natural fabrics is a much brighter
vivid than the poly counterpart. So much so that the
same amount brings an orange/pumpkin color result with
natural fibres’ like denim and cottons. Half the amount
can also be combined with the poly counterpart (link)
or a stronger and more vibrant result. It’s a perfect
time of the year to get rid of threads that you don’t love
and unflattering colors. Even sheets and bath/tea
towels can be recolored to give the home a boost
of color. Instead of giving away what isn’t going to be
used anymore, recoloring is an option to extended use
and save bucks. 1 pack dyes around 1kg of fabric and
more or less of the powder can be used depending on
desired shade – keep in mind the longer the fabrics
process the deeper the shade also. Personally I used
1 pack for two sometimes 3 batches. Instead of tipping
out the used dye batch water – I added a 2nd lot whilst
still boiling with extra salt and repeated the process.
When used I then gave the items a wash together.
With 1 packet I colored 8 tea towels, 2 Turkish
towels, 5 jumpers, denim shorts, 6 tees and 5 tanks.
It’s important to note non color safe patterns may
darken the dye batch or color other fabrics in the
batch and knot all stitching will take on color or do
so differently to the fabric. From Chapter DIY Color (Link)
✧☾ What I Used ☽✧
Outdoor plastic industrial strength gloves
Giant BBQ tongs (Not for food use)
Giant spoon (Not for food use)
Giant stainless steel Stockpot (Not for food use)
Idye ‘Golden Yellow’
Water
Add 1cup of iodized salt for cotton/linens/rayons or 1/3 cup white vinegar for silk
Giant tub or bucket will suffice for cooling

✧☾ Color Results ☽✧
Light Pink Fabrics = Apricot
Hot Pink/Mauve Fabrics = Muted Dark Peach to Orange
Light Grey Fabrics = Golden Olive
Cream/Whites = Golden Yellow
Remember Color Rules apply
✧☾ Directions ☽✧
... Fill stainless steel pot (I used a giant stockpot) with enough water for garments to move around freely over high heat
... Add packet of idye soluble powder. Stir until dissolved. Pre-wet items to dye, wring out and roll into a bowling ball
... Maintain stovetop temperature and stir frequently for 30 minutes. The stirring/agitation creates more uniform colour
... Remove done items with gloves/a giant barbecue tong straight into a large tub/bucket (be careful HOT!) allow to cool before washing in the automatic laundry o n a quick cycle with half the amount of the usual detergent used
... Wash with like colors and some color will transfer which is fine by me but may not be for you, have fun! I like to do this whilst I work in the studio next to the kitchen (So I can stir occasionally whilst being productive)
... Thank-you, Don't forget to follow and Share.
